I just purchased recovery media online from Gateway.com & was charged 19.4% "tax" on my purchase.?
To whom would I report this excessive tax rate? I don't believe Gateway has a store in my area but even if they do, the sales tax rate for my city is only 8.517%..
It wasn't s/h because that was listed as n/c. It was simply shown as "tax".
My intention is to contact Gateway via online chat so I will have a record of their response. However, I can't do that until they open again tomorrow,
Your first step is to contact Gateway and get an explanation. Are you sure that this is all tax? How about shipping charges?
If Gateway has a nexus anywhere in your state they have to collect sales tax. That could be a store, any office, a warehouse or a mail drop.
