Is there a headset that will activate voice dialing on a phone by pressing a button on the headset?
We are trying to set up a system for a person who can't press phone buttons with her hands. Is there a way to have a headset plugged in a phone, and pressing a button on the headset will launch voice dialing? We'd rewire the headset button to a larger button that she can press easily. We're also willing to buy a new phone that has that feature, as long as it's not too pricey.
In addition to that, it would be nice if the phone had a way to extend the delay before the voice command is made, because the person has speech impediments, and it takes her a while to get her words out. So, a button is pressed, the phone activates voice dialing, and waits for at least 10 seconds before assuming the user won't say anything.

Bluetooth headsets will activate the voice dialing by pressing the multi-function button. I don't know of any corded headsets but I haven't ever been asked to find that feature before either.
However, the voice dialing on most phones is advanced voice commands - so it's not specific to the voice. So, depending on how severe this persons speech impediments are - the phone may still not recognize the command. I'd test to make sure the phone can understand the command before spending too much on finding a headset for it since ultimately the phone is what is performing the functions.
